#AECsofMarketing How "Lean Thinking" Will Revolutionize the Proposal Process

The way we consume information has changed. We’re accustomed to small bites of information and highly graphical content that can be skimmed. Blogs, social media posts and other digital marketing best practices emphasize brief word counts and graphics as most effective. If brevity is our norm, why do many owners still ask for, and A/E/C professionals respond with, the same stale proposal formats that we’ve used for decades? Twenty, thirty- or fifty-page proposals are not fun – not to write and not to read.

There are new approaches that employ techniques to create more effective communication between owners and industry professionals. Among the disrupters is the Lean technique known as A3 Thinking. An A3 is an 11” x 17” sheet of paper. A3 thinking has long been used in other industries as an effective decision-making and reporting tool. More recently, institutional clients are requiring A3 submissions in lieu of a traditional proposal. But how does this work for an entire proposal? Come learn more and find out how!
