 About the topic:

From black and white advertisements in the local newspaper to the digital dominance of Facebook, Linked In and Twitter, companies of all sizes, styles, and sorts have endeavored to reach their desired audiences with successful and innovative marketing techniques. In an age where counting the number of visitors to a company website can give a sense of effective outreach, the concept of developing and delivering a company “brand” to express a firm’s perceived identity is now commonplace in today’s contemporary culture.

Digital media, brand enhancement, and successful message delivery will be discussed and debated in today’s rapidly changing and vastly competitive world.

About the Panelists:

Lori Miller, CPSM is Marketing Director of Perkins Eastman’s (@perkinseastman) international design practice in Senior Living and a Senior Associate and Leadership Coach. Lori is a contributing author of AEC Business Development…The Decade Ahead (Single Discipline Prime) and contributing editor of Building Type Basics for Senior Living (Second Edition) published by John Wiley & Sons, 2013. A Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM), she was the 1998-1999 and 2000-2001 President of SMPS Pittsburgh; she is also a member of LeadingAge. Lori has created and moderated a variety of programs, panels, roundtables, and lectures related to marketing, professional development (leadership), and social media. She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh (BA Creative Writing) and Duquesne University (Professional Coach Certification). Patty Swisher, Vice President of Corporate Communications, for IKM Incorporated Architects (@ikminc) is a veteran marketing communication professional. She is an active member of the Pittsburgh A/E/C community.  She writes a regular social media column for the AIA Pittsburgh Chapter, is a Past President of SMPS Pittsburgh, current member/presenter of the MBA Social Media Task Force, current member of ACE Mentor Pittsburgh PR Committee. Patty is co-founder of Social Media Group Pittsburgh (@smpgh) – a professional organization dedicated to sharing best practices in social media marketing.  Patty is also a first-year Adjunct Professor in the School of Communication for Point Park University.  She holds a Masters Degree in Journalism/Mass Communication, and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing.
